5 EASY WAYS TO DESIGN A CHILD FRIENDLY HOME

Having a baby has been one of the most life changing things to happen to me thus far. The design of a home truly changes when you welcome a new arrival from the essential baby proofing to ensuring the environment is a safe space to explore and play.

In this weeks post I will be sharing 5 easy ways to design a child friendly home that will not only look good but will help and aid their safety,

  1. Walls - if your children/grandchildren are anything like my daughter they love to express their artistic skills by writing on the walls, it will be worthwhile investing in a washable paint. You could also designate a wall strictly for writing on, we have done that by painting a chalkboard wall.

2. Sofas - Leather sofas are always ideal as they are easy to wipe and maintain with children, however if you like fabric sofas then I would recommend sofas with removable covers that you can remove and wash.

3. Dining Tables - Oval and round dining tables are great as they don’t have sharp edges, making them ideal for the running around.

4. Coffee tables - Pouffe stools are great as coffee tables and they also also double up as extra seating. I would also suggest investing in wooden tables as they don’t smudge like glass tables would do. If you are going to have a square or rectangle table I recommend that it’s low.

5. Storage - Last but definitely not least try to incorporate storage solutions in the main areas of the house as you will find out you will need it, whether it’s boxes, baskets or built in storage it helps create a clutter free environment knowing that everything has a place.

It Is highly important to create a home that not only caters for adults but allows the younger members to explore without anything being too precious.

I hope you found this post helpful see you in the next post.
