WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN PLANNING A ROOM

I hope you are staying hydrated during this heatwave, summer is definitely upon us! According to housemethod.com “spring and summer are the busiest times of the year for home renovations, as kids are out of school and the fair weather makes it easy to open up the house”, if you are planning a room or undertaking  DIY projects this summer, today’s post is sharing 3 things you should consider before you plan your room.

  1. Measure - Measuring your space is pivotal in planning your room and should be the first thing you do because it will help you know exactly how much space you have to work with. When you are looking at furniture or art pieces you can actually source things knowing that they will fit within the space, there’s nothing worse than buying something that is too big or too small for the space so the best thing you can do is measure once. I love a traditional measuring tape as it always get the job done.

2. Layout - Layout is definitely something I encourage you to think about when you are planning your room as it dictates the flow of the space, ask yourself questions of how you want to move in this space make sure there’s still enough space to walk when you plan your furniture in. It is also worth thinking about the direction your room faces and where the natural light is as this will determine the lighting and colour scheme.

3. Function -  Whether you are planning one room, or multiple rooms think about the function of each room, is this room for relaxing, entertaining, studying etc? all this will help guide you on what colour scheme, furnishings and the lighting you use in the room.

If you need help going over the things mentioned above don’t hesitate to contact. See you in the next post.
