Brown: The colour trend you're missing out on in your home

Cosy season is definitely upon us, and if I haven’t told you before, autumn is one of my favourite seasons (closely followed by spring). One colour that I have been seeing a lot in fashion and interiors and that I’m absolutely loving is brown. Often underrated, brown brings a sense of balance, warmth, and timeless style to any space.

While brown is commonly associated with industrial design style, it’s actually an incredibly versatile colour that works across a variety of styles, from minimalist to rustic and modern. Its wide range of shades from light taupe to rich chocolate means it can suit any taste or aesthetic.

Below is a look at how we incorporated brown into a recent guest bedroom project, followed by some easy ways you can introduce this timeless colour into your own space:

How to Incorporate Brown into Your Space:

  • Small Touches, Big Impact: Small changes always make the biggest difference, you can easily incorporate subtle accents, like brown cushions, throws, or a headboard, to instantly create warmth and depth in a room.

  • Statement Furniture: A brown accent chair, sideboard or a rich leather sofa can be a bold yet versatile centrepiece that elevates your entire living room/bedroom. Even functional pieces like brown shelving units can add warmth while creating a clean, balanced look in spaces like your home office.

  • Layering textures: A wooden coffee table, leather ottoman, or textured brown rug can add dimension and warmth, making the space feel more dynamic and inviting.

As an earthy tone, brown connects us to nature, evoking feelings of calm and grounding, it remains timeless due to its neutral properties and acts as the perfect backdrop, enhancing other colours without overpowering them. What are your thoughts about the colour brown in your home?
