Villamoura Mini Travel Guide

Earlier this year, I visited Villamoura, one of Portugal’s most charming coastal towns. We were there for 5 days, so we had some time to explore and get around this town. In this post I will be sharing my recommendations on where to stay, eat, drink, and enjoy some exciting activities.

Stay

We stayed at the Tivoli Marina Villamoura, and I can honestly say from the moment we stepped in, the warmth of the wooden tones and soft beige furnishings made this hotel so welcoming. The interior design created a cosy yet luxurious ambiance, enhanced by greenery throughout the hotel. If you’re looking for some relaxation, the hotel has amenities, including a spa, an indoor and outdoor pool, and direct access to the beach.

Eat

I highly recommend you try out these restaurants:

  • Bamboo : Bamboo offers delicious Thai cuisine, and I went for the pineapple fried rice which was very tasty.

  • Il Lamparo: We also tried some Italian food at Il Lamparo overlooking the marina, and I would highly recommend this for the freshness of the food.

  • Thai Beach Club: We clearly loved the Thai dishes so we went to Thai Beach Club and the seabass from here was delicious.

  • Loaded Fries Takeaway: Whilst out and about walking around the marina, we stopped at a little takeaway spot that served up loaded fries that you absolutely have to try. It’s a great quick bite if you’re on the go, and trust me, they were so good!

Do

Here are a few things you should definitely add to your itinerary:

  • Karaoke: One evening, after dinner we walked around the marina and found a bar and we went in for some karaoke and this was so much fun, this is ideal if you are travelling as a group.

  • Cycling: Our hotel were able to rent us some bikes and we just explored the town, you should be able to find some bike rental shops nearby as well to compare costs.

  • Parasailing: One thing I’m particularly proud of myself for is parasailing, this is the first time I had done it and although I was very nervous, the incredible views of the marina and the stunning Algarve coast were worth it.

  • Walk Around the Marina: I also discovered an interiors shop whilst walking around and as a you might guess I was in there for a while it was absolutely stunning.
